The end of the financial market crisis is still some way off. Worst hit by the crisis, apart from US homeowners, are the shareholders of the affected banks. The German economy is not escaping unscathed either but is relatively well placed. The “man on the street” is groaning most under the pickup in prices in recent months, but inflation should start to ease next year at the latest.
